THE FIELD GUIDE

Capture a little more.

A good capture comes from enough observations. Slow down, then move closer.

Beta installation and device requirements →

Objects and keepsakes

Choose a still, textured, non-reflective object. Stay roughly 30–100 cm away and move the phone around it; do not rotate the object. Capture again from slightly higher and lower angles.

Rooms and larger objects

Choose the larger-object preset for furniture or sculpture and the room preset for interiors. Cover the whole scene, then corners. When passing blank walls, keep textured furniture or flooring in view.

Outdoor details

Try a courtyard, sculpture or part of a building in soft light. Get close to surfaces and avoid strong sun, distant views, glass and mirrors. Phone LiDAR cannot resolve the sky or distant buildings.

Motion and recovery

Person masking and repeated views help reduce motion trails. Removing a departed object requires observing the background again. Return to an earlier viewpoint to resume; wait for alignment and pause when tracking is unstable.

Save and export

Drafts are saved periodically; explicitly save when you finish. Rotate, zoom, refine, rename and export PLY/SPZ in the viewer. Review private content before sharing; these are Gaussian scene formats, not ready-to-print meshes.
